What Sift is

Sift is a read-only AI email triage tool. By using Sift, you grant us permission to read your Gmail messages (via Google's API with gmail.readonly scope) and process them using AI. We never send, delete, forward, or modify your emails.

Your account

  • You sign in via Google OAuth. We don't store your Google password.
  • You're responsible for maintaining access to your Google account.
  • You can revoke Sift's access at any time from your Google Account settings.

How Sift works

  • Sift syncs emails from the last 7 days and processes them with AI to generate verdicts (read/skip), summaries, tags, and emoji.
  • Emails automatically expire and are deleted from Sift after 7 days unless you choose to keep them.
  • Blocking a sender removes their emails from Sift and hides future emails from that sender. This does not affect your Gmail inbox.
  • AI verdicts and summaries are generated by Anthropic's Claude and may not always be accurate. Use your own judgment for important emails.

Limitations

  • Sift is provided "as is" without warranty. AI classifications may be incorrect.
  • Sift is not a replacement for your email client. Important emails should still be checked in Gmail.
  • We're not liable for missed emails, incorrect classifications, or any decisions you make based on Sift's AI analysis.
  • Service availability is not guaranteed. We may modify or discontinue Sift at any time.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service. This includes but is not limited to: automated scraping, attempting to access other users' data, reverse engineering the AI processing, or using Sift for any illegal purpose.

Data and privacy

Your use of Sift is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
